Love, Legacy, and the Stories We Tell

Love has always been more than a theme in my stories—it’s a lifeline. A thread that weaves through the quiet moments and the sweeping declarations, through heartbreak and healing. For me, writing about love isn’t just crafting a perfect meet-cute or a swoon-worthy kiss. It’s a deeply personal act. A reflection of my own journey. A message to my daughters. A legacy made of words and heart.

When I sit down to write, I pour pieces of myself onto the page—memories I’ve held onto, dreams I’m still chasing, lessons life has taught me in whispers and in roars. Each story holds a sliver of truth wrapped in fiction, tenderly offered to anyone who might need it.

Where My Stories Begin

Every love story I write begins in a place that’s real to me. Maybe it’s the flutter of nerves before a first date, or the long exhale that comes from knowing someone sees you—really sees you. Love isn’t just in the grand gestures. It lives in the quiet spaces. In stolen glances across a crowded room. In hands brushing during a late-night walk. In showing up—especially when it’s hard.

Those are the moments I write for. The ones that feel lived in. Honest. Raw. Beautiful in their imperfection.

A Mirror to My Heart

Writing has always been my way of making sense of things. Of translating chaos into clarity. Every character I create holds a piece of me—sometimes the brave part, sometimes the broken one. Sometimes the version of me I haven’t met yet but hope to one day.

The emotional terrain of love—its messiness, its magic—is familiar ground. I’ve walked it. Tripped over it. Danced across it. And each stumble, each step, finds its way into my pages. I write women who feel deeply, who want more, who learn to ask for it. Women who remind my daughters, and maybe you too, that love doesn’t have to hurt to be real.

Love as Legacy

There’s a reason so many of my stories are rooted in family, in friendship, in the quiet power of knowing your worth. My daughters are always at the heart of my writing. I want them to see what love can look like when it’s honest and healthy. I want them to understand that love should never ask them to shrink. That being cherished is not a luxury—it’s the standard.

My hope is that these stories help them recognize the red flags and celebrate the green ones. That they fall in love with people who match their fire and honor their softness. That they learn to walk away when love asks them to be anything less than whole.

It Begins with Self-Love

Before anything else, I want my daughters to know that love begins with them. With learning how to sit with themselves in silence. With finding joy that isn’t attached to someone else’s presence. With forgiving their mistakes and honoring their growth.

I write women who rise—who pick themselves up, even when it’s messy. Who choose themselves, even when it’s hard. Who fall in love, not just with someone else, but with their own becoming. Because that, to me, is the kind of love that changes everything.

The Ties That Bind

Love isn’t just romantic. It’s found in the women who hold you up when the world feels heavy. In the siblings who see your scars and love you louder for them. In the mentors, the soul friends, the strangers who become family.

Those bonds are sacred. And they deserve space on the page, too.

In my stories, you’ll find those kinds of connections—unexpected, unwavering, and unforgettable. Because love, in all its forms, is what makes life meaningful.

This Journey We’re On

I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But what I do have is a heart that believes in love—in its ability to heal, to transform, to teach. Through every chapter I write, I’m exploring what it means to love and be loved. To choose it. To fight for it. To hold it gently and let it grow.

So whether you’re in the middle of your own love story or waiting for the first page to turn, I hope you find something in my words that resonates. That reminds you of your worth. That inspires you to believe in the kind of love that doesn’t just survive—but thrives.

Because love isn’t just a plot point. It’s the whole story. And it’s always worth telling.

Hi, I’m Avery Montgomery — writer of swoony slow burns, heart-twisting tension, and characters who fight hard for the love they never saw coming.

I live on the coast of North Carolina with my husband, where salt air, sunsets, and stormy beach walks are part of our everyday rhythm. There’s something about the ocean that feels like a good romance — deep, unpredictable, and a little bit wild.

I write love stories because I believe in the magic of connection. The kind that sneaks up on you, the kind that undoes carefully laid plans, the kind that lingers long after the last page. I’m endlessly inspired by the quiet, powerful moments between people — the look across a crowded room, the brush of fingertips, the secret histories that shape how we give and receive love.

Romance, to me, is hope on paper. It’s how we remind ourselves that love is always worth the risk.

When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me with a book in one hand, coffee in the other, and my husband just out of frame, probably trying to distract me — and usually succeeding.
